Lovely vinyl looking brake surface

A pair of pre-2013 Brompton single wall wheelset came in for servicing the other day. These single wall wheels aren’t the best friend of the inner tubes, why? maybe we will go over this in the other post. The wheels that are sitting in front of me must have be used very very extensively. The braking surface was used until they are like the vinyl records.

If anyone is ever going to buy a second hand Brompton, this should be one of the area to look into.
